Why is it FAKE?
ReplyDeleteLife isn't always what it seems to be. I always was and am still searchig for the basic rules in life. Fake is one aspect of life. Even in nature the faking of beauty, size, colour etc. to get something done is so obviously there.
ReplyDeleteRuud, You have stated that one does not need to be an artist in order to be a mail artist. "FAKE" is also one of the words in the mailart you submitted for this exhibit. Around ten years ago there was a Ray Johnson retrospective here in Columbus Ohio, and a mailart exhibit in connection with this show at the Wexner Arts Center (on the OSU campus). The gathering here of mailartists that happened in connection with that became known as the "Fake Ray Johnson" congress (Reed Altemus dubbed it that I believe). So, you see, it's a combination of all these reasons that caused me to label your submission as "fake". You should feel honored!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Thankyou for the 1995 interview you did by mail with John. I plan to put the TAM Interview #47 in the exhibit since it helps connect the mailart exhibit with JMB's retrospective at Skylab
that sounds wonderful.
